How portable long service leave works
What is QLeave?
QLeave provides a long service leave scheme for workers in Queensland’s contract cleaning industry. Our scheme rewards you for your service to the industry by making sure you receive long service leave benefits, even if you change employers or work interstate.
How does it work?
Every three months, your employer submits a return detailing your wages to QLeave. We use this information to add service to your record. Once you have 10 years of service recorded with QLeave, you're entitled to claim 8.67 weeks of long service leave paid by us.
Long service leave entitlements are based on time spent in the industry rather than time spent with an individual employer. So, even if you change jobs, we’ll know how many hours you’ve worked overall.
How much does it cost?
QLeave registration is free for workers.
When your employers submit their return, they'll also pay a levy. We invest these levy payments to ensure we can pay your long service leave once you're ready to claim.

QLeave is a statutory authority administering the portable long service leave scheme for workers and employers in the contract cleaning industry in Queensland.
The scheme was introduced in 2005 to ensure that cleaners, who have 10 or more years recorded service, can claim paid long service leave.
